Argument Gala

Argument Gala
I definitely think we should have Galas. Firstly, give money to people that are poor so they can get some food. Get money off people to do more activities and get more equipment for School. Get money to go on trips. Secondly, you can have lots of fun at galas You can have lots of fun on the bouncy castle. You can make lots of money because people play your game. You can play your own game for free or you can pay if you want to. Thirdly, you can make new friends. You can see your old friends from kindy. You can see more kids. You can see kids that are from other countries.

There's NO "I" in TEAM

W.A.L.T.  include others in our games. We are learning that we need to work together as a team, share skills and strategies so we can win fairly and everyone can participate. In life we need to make great relationships with others in teams, individually and in classes.

Amazing Alphbetical Alliteration makes Real Relationships Rule

Today I learnt about how to put my voice into a video. We sat in alphabetical order on the mat so we were ready to read our slide. We had to have a loud voice so that the Chromebook could hear us. We had to do it three times until we got it right. We could use Screencastify on a google docs or google slides.

Cross Country Goals

I.A.L.T. Make a green screen. How did we make a green screen?First we toke video and then we got two people to go and help the teacher. They picked a video with Ms G.
Ms G said to us to say our goal. My goal was to start off by jogging, then pace my self and keep my strength up. Practice every day and everywhere.
Slowly jog and then run, at my own speed. at the end sprint as fast as you can.

Fractions Wall

Shay and I are learning  to make a fractions wall. First we had to cut twelve pieces of paper the same length.  First we glued one whole strip, then we folded another strip in 1/2 before cutting it in half and gluing it on our wall. We repeated this process in 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8, 1/9, 1/10, 1/12ths. We saw patterns when we cut 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/12. We saw another pattern when we cut 1/3, 1/6 and  1/9.  We saw another pattern with 1/5 and 1/10. The folding was the hardest thing for me to.

Extreme Glowing Mini Golf

Extreme Glowing Mini Golf
Glowing paths, changing colours before my eyes. I picked up my glowing golf club and ball. The games had names and the first one was called Glow Worms. I hit it as soft as I could and  guess what, I got a hole in one.
It was my Mum’s turn she hit the ball straight into the hole. Then we moved onto Alice in  Wonderland the hole was super hard to get because the cards were hitting  the ball back and making it roll away. We went to the next one and we got to choose what way we played. I chose to go the highway and Mum chose the short way, it was a hole in one for both of us.
I did not want to go into the next one because it had bugs and slime in it and it was called The Lab. I had to go in there and then I saw a head with no body. We played on into The scary Circus.
The circus was the best one, but I have a fear of clowns. There was a slippery sharp slicer level and you had to get the ball into the hole and it was so so had. I had to get a five and that was the number for how many you had to get it in. It was time to leave and it was the best day of my life at Whangarei. But first we had to put the numbers together.

I.A.L.T. to write a recount of an adventure in my weekend. I have learnt how to use commas, capital letters for names and language features. Can you find the simile and the alliteration?

I am learning about Remembrance Day in England. Some of my ancestors are from England and some of them are at New Zealand. On my inquiry first I learnt about the country and then I investigated the celebration.

Learning

What have I been learning?

  • I’ve written what I have been learning about e.g. shared my WALT
  • I have put in an image, drawing or a screenshot of my learning
How do I know I have learnt?

  • My post includes information and ideas that show what I learned.
  • I created a DLO that shares my ideas about the learning: eg, a video, diagram, infographic etc

Reflected on my learning:

  • My post has my new ideas and what I enjoyed or found really difficult
  • I’ve shared what I think my next steps are, what I’d like to know more about, and what I might do differently next time

Impact

  • I have explained the learning I did
  • Most of my ideas can be seen
  • I included a photo, image or screenshot
  • My title is unique or catchy
  • My DLO is my own creation, makes sense and adds more information
  • My post may include embedded html content e.g. collage, video, Google Slide, animation etc

  • My post shows WHO I AM as a learner and is unique to me.
  • My information and ideas help my audience to understand the learning, [and there’s a link to this activity to my class learning site]
  • For my DLO, I (or my group) made all of the learning being shown from scratch

Punctuation

  • Some of my spelling and punctuation is not right
  • My post might be hard for the reader to understand
  • I have checked my punctuation and spelling
  • I have asked a buddy to read my post, made corrections and I cannot see any mistakes

  • I’m confident all my spelling and punctuation is correct and it makes sense for my readers, they will be able to read it easily

Layout

  • My font sizes and colour may be different and need making the same
  • My images or embedded content might not fit properly
  • I may not have used labels or a title on my learning blog post.
  • I previewed layout to see how my post would look and changed it where I needed to
  • Font size and colour match
  • I’ve used a title & labels
  • If I’ve used other people’s work or thinking I have shown the source or attributed it to them

  • Media/html content is checked e.g. size, position, and appears when post loads
  • My labels and title are specific to the learning & help people searching my blog
  • I am beginning to use scheduling for publishing so my posts don’t all come at once

All the Students in Te Moana have recently begun their own blogs. They are all at the beginner blog stage now but we are all setting our goals to become Smart Bloggers by the end of the year. Please check our blogs all the time to check how we are learning to improve.

Our hoe

At the beginning of the year we wrote our hoe for Te Moana class as well as how we collaborate and care for others throughout the school as well as throughout life. We have just revisited it, and discussed the questions with greater meaning.
